What to expect on your wedding

As your wedding photographer, I take a lot of pride in giving you plenty of opportunities to consult in person because I truly believe this personable experience will positively transfer a more genuine version of yourself into my camera. Both the engagement, bridal or boudoir session, will help you get some practice on posing and will have you feeling more confident about portraits on your wedding day.

I also look forward to hearing about you and your love story!  Speaking to you over the phone or on a video call,  will give us the opportunity to create that relationship that will ultimately create a bond that will have you feeling less nervous on your special day! I believe your love story is unique and want to create a custom experience for you, so if you feel the same, feel free to click on that button to inquire more!

Envisioning Your Wedding Photos

Part of choosing me as your photographer, you can expect to see a lot of emotions of not just you and your fiancé but also of all the people who attended your wedding. I tend to focus on all the moments that show laughter and tender moments like when your mom and dad sees you for the first time in your dress. The tears of joy  seeing you all grown up ready to start your own family is definitely an all time emotional experience you want captured and is only going to acquire more meaning as time goes by.

I will also coach you on how to pose using a combination of looking at the camera as well as coaching you on creating candid natural poses. Also, I’m very detailed oriented and will guide you on where to place your hands to avoid any awkward poses, as well as fanning your dress to show it off, making sure your veil sits right on your head, or watching that boutonnieres are holding in place–all details that make portraits look polished and more professional.

Another common concern that comes up for couples when selecting a photographer is the experience with different skin colors or different heights in couples.  As an experienced Houston wedding photographer, I can say I feel very comfortable exposing for different skin colors, different heights as well as all types of bodies.  I feel confident I have plenty of tricks under my sleeve to pose you in a way that makes you look and feel your absolute best!

For candid photographs, I can coach you on how to look natural, laughing at each other, making the silliest jokes just to get you to smile naturally.  I might, for example,  ask your partner to whisper something into your ear to help you ease up into the moment and allow me to capture the natural dynamics each one of you has towards one another.

I love to also slow down the end of the couple’s session on your wedding day by asking you to get closer to one another, touch foreheads, caress each other and soak in the moment and the commitment that you are making to each other. I do this because it will be a very busy day in which a lot of people will demand your attention and you may forget to pause to seek a deeper meaning to the day.  Your couple’s session on your wedding day, lasts anywhere between 15-20 minutes, and may be one of the few times you get to quiet down and connect with one another without interruptions. I find this to be one of my unique ways to pose you and find that connection with each other that will hopefully give you a memorable feeling of the day.

Editing Style and What it Means

When it comes to photography,  we all have, not just different ways of posing couples, but also editing styles. I like to edit your photos true to color enhancing a bit of those colors without overkill. I expose the light so that it highlights your features without overexposing or underexposing. I imagine your photos to be timeless and tend to stay to this true color approach for this reason.

Something for you to consider as you plan your wedding is that some venues are darker than others and that may have a slight effect on the editing of your photos but not by much. An all white venue, for instance, will reflect much more light versus a venue that has black ceilings or colored walls. So, choosing your venue, will already have an effect on the way your photos get exposed and then edited. It is maybe something you’d like to consider as you visualize how you’d like your photos to look like–the overall vibe of the wedding begins with the venue, accompanied by the colors you’ll be using for decor.

Last but not least, as I already mentioned before, I pay a lot of attention to posing and small details which I find determine the overall look of your photos. For instance, making sure there’s no random gaps between you and your wedding party in group shots, making sure everyone is leaning or facing you as the couple, or making sure the groomsmen don’t have bulky items in their pockets which result in making the photos look less thought out. I believe all of these small details, if overlooked, will add up and give you more polished looking photos.

Of course I also like to give you other candid instructions, such as walking in a V shape imagining something dramatic is happening behind me and give us that cinematic look that will look very cool in your photo album. Thinking outside the box is something I am always open to and love to experiment with you as I always say, I rather give you more options than not on your photo gallery.

How Many Hours Should I Book My Wedding Photographer?

One of the common questions that comes up is “how many hours should I book?” and because you have probably never had a wedding before, you may not have any idea. You may not even know when to start your photography coverage. Don’t worry, I completely understand and is why hiring a seasoned Houston wedding photographer like me will make your life much easier!

I like to arrive about half an hour before your hair and make up is done because I want to photograph you in this “getting ready”stage, but not at a point where your hair is up with clips and make up pads under your eyes are not making you the most glamorous. I like to get there when the make up artist is finishing up either hair or make up, grab a few photos of this if we both agree it’s glamorous enough. By this time, your bridesmaids, your mom, and all immediate family should already be ready for photos.

Wedding Shoes

Because my goal is always to document your day so that when it comes time to make you an album, every phase of the wedding was covered. For this reason, my wedding collections start at 6 hours because this is the least amount of time I find will give you enough coverage to build a photo album of your day without missing any important key moments. From there, I would consider 8 hours if you have a ceremony site is different from where your reception will be held or you know that you will be freaking out if anything runs behind schedule and would rather be covered. I have also covered 10 hour weddings when “getting ready” takes place in one location, ceremony at a different location, reception at a different location. Also, if you want to do a lot of “first looks” such as first look with bridesmaids, dad, mom, or grandparents– definitely consider an 8-10 hour coverage.

Ultimately, you know yourself and your family and how well organized you guys are or not, and can keep this in mind as you book the hour coverage. If you know your crowd tends to arrive late or take their time getting ready, consider adding buffer hours so that you don’t feel rushed to take photos or in general you don’t want your wedding day to feel rushed or like your crushing down on time.

What are Your Prices?

My collections for wedding and event photography start at $1,800 for a 6 hour coverage which I’ve mentioned before I feel allows me to capture the most essential moments that will make your photo album complete. Part of making an album is the end goal of your wedding photos and I feel very strong about this because you want to be able to show this to your kids 5-10 years from now. Because technology is constantly changing, print is the safest way for you to store your memories, no matter how antiquated this might sound to you right now.

In an era in which we take photos on a daily basis, printing your wedding photos, gives this particular moments enough importance to bring them out of your devices into fresh air with hands that can touch them and be passed along other hands. Your printed photo album will be the way you can quickly share your day with family and friends who come into your home bringing about stories and smiles about the day.

Additionally, I offer a few more collections that will offer wall art, small portraits, as well as the significant wedding album included. Although you can also choose to add it separately, but the collections definitely give you a bundle saving. Engagement or bridal sessions are also included in my middle and top collections, so definitely take advantage of these offers.

The engagement, bridal, or boudoir sessions you do with me prior to your wedding, will definitely give you some practice into working with me and you’ll be more familiar with how to pose on your wedding day.

I hope I have answered most of your most important questions, however if you feel you still have some things on your mind you need answers click any of the “I want more information” buttons to fill out a form that will get you in touch with me promptly!
